The  System/Tools Administrator will directly support the Platform Operations Lead in design, implementation, management and governance of SaaS digital hosting platform components and solutions as well as vendor, security and architecture team interactions. This role has primary operational responsibility for the tools and systems under the purview of Technical Operations, including servers and services used to manage platforms, jobs, and automation. This role requires general, overall technical knowledge of the platforms, skills and supporting tools, and must have a strong understanding of how the different areas of networking, operating systems, and applications work together to support appropriate capacity, availability and security oversight, with particular emphasis on monitoring, alerting, reporting, and automation.  Reporting to the Senior Manager of Technical Operations, and working with a team of platform engineers, systems administrators, DBAs and DevOps engineers, this role will support our internal and external customer services (for our digital customer-facing product) providing 24/7/365 service availability within a healthcare-compliant set of solutions.  This role works with the rest of the Technical Operations team ,shared services, and vendor teams to implement and operate the services at the determined OLAs and SLAs.
  • Directly support customer and technical support teams to ensure customer SLAs, requests and schedules are met.
  • Provide tier-2 support through the Tech Ops team members for the Data & Delivery function, including support for file transfer and job scheduling infrastructure. Manage root level access to such assets and provision administrative accounts as appropriate to the lower-level support teams.
  • Support both the electronic file transfer (EFT) and job scheduling infrastructure and standards, whether internally managed or provided by JNJ shared services or a third-party
  • Administering development and production server infrastructure as well as ongoing monitoring to ensure they meet service level agreements with external and internal customers.
  • Platform server and tools support, including but not limited to JIRA, JSCAPE, Splunk, AlertSite, HostMonitor, Nagios, New Relic, Zabbix, backups, job scheduling, etc., including on-call support and off-hours maintenance
  • Responsibility for the delivery of network infrastructure services in a multi-platform environment. This includes support for a development network, production networks or solutions, and integration with corporate network and outside vendors.
  • Execute daily administrative tasks on the managed or co-managed environments.
  • Support the proper operation of  systems, processes and/or assets.
  • Manage performance monitoring to ensure the achievement of all SLAs, process requests for changes, and ensure organizational standards are followed.
  • Support infrastructure asset management and capacity planning for environments
  • Support availability management with the proper monitoring and reporting of all platforms, supporting DR implementation and testing, backup strategies, and redundancy design
  • Ensure that all systems comply with corporate guidelines related to system management, monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Generate system utilization dashboards and reports that track health and status trends
  • Production code deployment and environment management assistance for DevOps
  • Access management – manage allocation of new user accounts and privileges, as well as being the super user on appropriate systems.
  • Help manage development-specific assets, particularly virtual and physical workstations used to build/manage code.
  • Manage backups, firewalls, load balancers, DNS changes, VPN, routers, switches, internal monitoring systems.
  • Specifying, planning, and performing upgrades to various key infrastructure elements
  • Supporting other technical operations teams, including data and delivery, QA, O&M and the overall TechOps team
  • Be part of an on-call 24/7/365 rotation for critical issues
  • Work with hosting partners, support partners, and operations teams to remediate Technical Operations production issues on a 24x7 basis.
  • Participate in forums to ensure proper change management impacting infrastructure.
  • Facilitate appropriate customer communications around Technical Operations incidents and events that impact end users and economic buyers
  • Manage, document, and enhance both automated and manual operational processes, seeking to move the organization toward automated, repeatable processes wherever appropriate
  • Review and improve monitoring tools and known error database systems and processes to facilitate faster problem resolution (e.g. lower Mean Time to Resolve).
  • Work closely with compliance and security, to provide a strong level of integrity and auditability to all systems and processes, particularly those processing or containing sensitive data
  • Track key metrics of the infrastructure, such as uptime, response time and outage events to report into operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required with preference in the field of computer science, information technology or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant technical experience working in large scale production operations, preferably with internet based web delivery companies (SaaS or other models)
  • Fundamental to advanced skills in the following: Jboss, Nginx, Apache, Tidal (or other enterprise scheduling solutions), Splunk (or other log management solutions), JScape (or other EFT systems)
  • Proficiency with software development tools, development life cycle management, release management, software configuration management, software testing tools, and DevOps methodologies is required
  • Understanding of and experience with virtualization technologies including VMware, Amazon Web Services, and others as needed.
  • In-depth understanding of, and long-term experience with multiple Linux variants (Red Hat, CentOS, and SLES)
  • Proficiency with various monitoring tools for all platform components (network, server, application, DB, website, etc.)
  • Server infrastructure management - physical and virtual (VMware)
  • Storage solutions (SAN, NAS, backup models)
  • Linux and Windows enterprise OS (Red Hat, CentOS, SUSE)
  • Experience with monitoring tools (application and infrastructure) is required
  • Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, Agile, Scrum, or Capability Maturity Model certification is required as is project management certification is preferred
  • ITIL Foundation or higher certification and experience in the healthcare industry is preferred
  • Experience working with IT security and/or risk management organizations is preferred
  • Experience with the following would be preferred: Foreman, Puppet, Docker, Cognos, Pentaho, JIRA, as well as familiarity with software development tools, development life cycle management, release management, software configuration management, software testing tools, and DevOps methodologies.
