The primary role of this position is Diesel Engine Software requirements management, software delivery planning and management for NA vehicle programs. Job involves careful capture of all requirements coming from various stakeholders, and requires keeping SW delivery teams across the global updated on the project timing. Requires follow-up and skilled negotiation to keep software delivery on schedule.
Software Planner
  • Track requirements requested by various internal customers, such as., calibration, Service, End-of-Line, OBD, and others.
  • Follow internal processes such as etracker, FDEC tracker, and other requirement tracking tools to request and track delivery of SW requests.
  • Assign requirements to various subsystem teams/SMEs to deliver SW.
  • Follow internal FDEC platform SW development process.
  • Document all changes using clients process and tools
  • Create/update control Requirements Documents
  • Develop software validation plan for simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and vehicle testing.
  • Collaborate within the subsystem feature team, with representatives from hardware and calibration activities, to manage the design and development of engine control software.
  • Manage RAM, ROM and chronometric resource usage for each function.
  • Plan availability of all resources, such as software integration and validation, to ensure Robust and Validated Software is delivered to programs per planned schedule.
  • Create, maintain and report SW delivery status to management.
  • Engage and contribute to continuous development activities related Software planning and delivery.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • 2+ years of SW planning and SW delivery management experience (i.e., Microsoft Project, Excel, etc.)
  • Working level knowledge of powertrain operation
  • Willing to travel abroad occasionally
  • Excellent project planning skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Working knowledge of product development system  & software engineering principles
  • Understanding of modeling, simulation, and testing techniques
  • Proactive attitude, leadership and interpersonal skills, work planning and data analysis skills
  • Familiarity with software requirements management tools
  • ‘Can do’ attitude, willingness to work with a diverse global team, ability to identify strengths of team members and leverage relationships to deliver programs on-time.
  • Proven negotiator. Ability to compromise and quickly develop recovery plan to maintain planned schedule.
  • Good understanding of appropriate management tools, including escalation process, to keep programs on track.
  • Customer focused.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of basic combustion engine operating principles
  • Understanding of basic principles of controls engineering
  • Familiarity with Automotive product development processes
