Position: (1912089069) Solaris - Linux Migration Tech
Location: Albany, NY
Duration: 6 Months
Skills and experience in migrating applications and shell scripts running on Solaris to Linux (SUSE and Red Hat)
o Proven skills in applications code analysis to assess lack of ANSI and POSIX compliance, direct I/O calls, differences in shared libraries and file systems, etc., which would prevent successful migration of UNIX-based applications to Linux.
o Ability to remediate these and similar source code issues to allow successful compilation and execution in the target Linux environment.
o Skills in assessing and modifying UNIX shell scripts written in the source environments to successfully migrate scripting functionality to the target OS environments – this means an understanding of scripting and differences in the various shells available in the source and target environments, and scripting related to Solaris Containers, etc.
o Differences in startup files and locations relative to the source UNIX systems and target Linux systems.
o Experience in a variety of programming languages, but primarily multiple variants of C and Java.
o Skills and experience migrating Oracle databases between UNIX and Linux environments, as there are differences in installation behaviors and links to shared libraries
o UNIX and Linux High Availability skills to ensure equivalent HA capabilities migrating UNIX to Linux
o Strong UNIX and Linux architecture, implementation and systems management skills
· Similar skills and experience in migrating applications and shell scripts running on HP-UX, AIX to Linux (SUSE and Red Hat) a plus but not required for this engagement.
