Summary:
Responsible for leading highly complex, large-scale, strategic IT and business initiatives.  Has overall responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of business unit and technology projects to ensure goals and objectives are achieved and projects delivered on time, within budget, and with high quality. Projects may span across multiple business units or the entire enterprise.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all project management planning and execution aspects of large scale corporate initiatives, which includes: developing and managing work plans, performing project risk assessments, managing stakeholder expectations, managing scope, managing budget, and managing all other day-to-day aspects and phases of the project.
  • Oversees all phases of the project including initiating, requirements gathering, development and build of functional and technical designs, testing, training, communication, and implementation. 
  • Leads a project team of both technical and business resources.
  • Works with business units to gather requirements and scope projects.
  • Facilitates the identification of solution needs for the business based on functionality and cost/benefit analysis on the alternatives.
  • Communicate (verbal and written) project status to executive team, business and IT leaders, and other key stakeholders on overall project status, including schedule, budget, risks, and issues.
  • Makes project-related recommendations to stakeholders and leadership as appropriate.
  • Responsible for issue management and risk management relative to the project.
  • Works with the business areas to ensure operational readiness and provides coordination to ensure adoption of new systems and business processes.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.  Completes all required compliance training.  Maintains knowledge of and adheres to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures.  Takes responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.
  • Takes responsibility to keep up on industry and project management trends.
 Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 7 years of IT business and project management including development, maintenance, and implementation of systems across multiple hardware and software platforms (preferred), or 10 years of comparable work experience.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) - Preferred
  • 3 years of experience in managing moderate to large scale projects.
  • Superior project management skills with the demonstrated ability to multitask and manage multiple small and large projects in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong ability to lead, coordinate, influence, and execute cross-functionally with technical managers, business managers, subject matter experts, customers, etc.
  • Proven ability to manage internal and external development projects from inception to implementation.
  • Strong desire and ability to lead.
  • Strong understanding of the software development process, including requirement gathering, analysis and design, development tools and technologies, release management and version control, contemporary testing methodologies, and deployment management.
  • Strong proficiency with Agile, Waterfall, SDLC, and project management methodologies.
  • Ability to develop, adhere to, and report progress against project schedules and plans.
  • Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization in a proactive, contextually appropriate manner.
  • Excellent ability in interpreting customer business needs and translating them into application and operational requirements.
  • Strong ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach team members.
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, and decision-making skills to drive decisions and trade off options across all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to establish a high level of trust and confidence in both the business and IT communities.
  • Excellent ability to prioritize work by dividing time, attention, and effort between multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and demonstrated ability to manage a large project budget.
  • ITIL Foundations Certification (preferred)


At least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or an equivalent in education is required for this position.
